Mahogany Phonograph, "Victor Victrola XI". Built by the Victor Talking Machine Company ca. 1919.

The phonograph mechanism is in the top compartment, under the lift up top and is powered by a hand crank on the right side. The volume is controlled by opening and closing the two small cabinet doors. Records were stored behind the two larger cabinet doors

This phonograph cabinet was severely damaged. Much of the mahogany veneer was peeling off and missing due to extensive water damage. Both rear feet were missing thanks to wood rot. The finish was beyond rejuvenation and required refinishing.

The loose pieces of veneer were salvaged and re-glued. The missing pieces of veneer and feet were replaced using mahogany with equivalent grain structure. Due to the extensive damage of the finish, the wood required refinishing. A lacquer finish was used.

The mechanism was in surprisingly good condition, and only required minor cleaning.
